Green Mountain

You ask me why I live on Green Mountain--
I smile in silence and the quiet mind.

Peach petals blow on mountain streams
To earths and skies beyond Humankind.

Tr. Tony Kline
Green Mountain
You ask me why I dwell in the green mountain; I smile and make no reply for my heart is free of care. As the peach-blossom flows down stream and is gone into the unknown, I have a world apart that is not among men. Tr. China the Beautiful
Question and Answer in the Mountains
They ask me why I live in the green mountains. I smile and don't reply; my heart's at ease. Peach blossoms flow downstream, leaving no trace -- And there are other earths and skies than these. Tr. Vikram Seth
You ask why I live
alone in the mountain forest,

and I smile and am silent
until even my soul grows quiet.

The peach trees blossom.
The water continues to flow.

I live in the other world,
one that lies beyond the human.

Tr. Sam Hamill
